Synopsis

After serving in the army, Viktor Zavyalov goes to the village to visit the grave of his deceased friend Sergei Sintsov. In the village, Victor meets his mother Vera Sergeevna and falls in love with her, despite the big age difference. Relations between Viktor and Vera Sergeevna cause fierce condemnation of relatives and fellow villagers.
