Gerard Arthur Way (born April 9, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and comic book writer. He is best known as the lead vocalist and co-founder of the rock band My Chemical Romance. His debut solo album Hesitant Alien was released on September 30, 2014. He is also the founder of DC Comics' Young Animal imprint, and wrote the imprint's flagship series, Doom Patrol. The following year, Way, as part of the show's writing team, was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Writing in a Children's Series". In 2018, the character Peni Parker who he co-created appeared in "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse."
